Fashion Festival Qld is proud to produce BrisAsia Festival Fashion 2022.
Coordinated by Fashion Director Liz Golding and working closely with producers - Sounds Across Oceans and Nicole Fisher and Julianna Suranyi from SFE Agency, BrisAsia Fashion brings a spectacular fashion element to BrisAsia for the first time.
Through an innovative curation that showcases local Asian designers, champions intercultural local Asian designers, champions intercultural dialogue and collaboration with indigenous artists BrisAsia Fashion establishes a new horizon for QLD fashion.
BrisAsia Fashion will provide unique co-branding opportunities to generate new sales, inspires new cultural connections and create new partnerships and business relationships that are culturally diverse, inclusive and visionary.
Queenslanders love to celebrate our own homegrown talent and now we can do so in a way that embraces the full spectrum of our cultural diversity.
BrisAsia Fashion, presented by Brisbane City Council, is one of our city's premier cultural events celebrating Asian and intercultural arts, cuisine, culture and philosophy. For the ancient to the contemporary, community events, concerts, parties, discussion forums and creative sector engagement the festival aims to foster a shared sense of belonging - to celebrate and create life, art and culture together.
Promoting a Culture of Innovation and Inclusion
With Brisbane's geographic location within the Asia Pacific region, our strong and growing Asian heritage links, increasing migration and our diverse creative and economic landscape it is important to explore and express fashion in new ways that reflect our evolving cultural identity. The power of BrisAsia Festival emerges through the positive creative and economic relationships that are reflected through our programming. BrisAsia Festival has developed a consultative and collaborative approach to curation supporting Asian and indigenous story telling through fashion, food, music and live performance. The sharing of history, culture and creative practice that emerges through this process is powerful and transformative for participants and audiences. We inspire new contemporary ideas and perspectives by embracing ancient traditions.
